10th June – Past Chairman of the FA Premier League – Sir David Gerald Richards officially opens Land Logical Ltd.’s new Terex® Wash Plant at Pasture House Farm Quarry, Thorney.
Sir David Gerald Richards today opened a brand-new Terex® Wash Plant at Thorney, Peterborough which represents a significant investment in the area by Land Logical Ltd who are an independently owned and managed company that provides creative, practical, and cost-effective solutions and services for landowners and the construction industry.
The state-of-the-art fully electric processing plant will be capable of producing two sands and four aggregates operating at 170tph.
Mr Richards opened the plant at a formal ceremony hosted by Nick Katz chief executive, in the presence of a number of industry professionals and friends.
Commenting on the investment, Mr Richards said: “It gives me a great pleasure to help a friend achieve a fantastic ambition because Nick is exceptional in everything he does. I would just like to say the co-operation he must have had from all involved in this project and also that he has brought employment to the local area is a credit to him and Land Logical.”
Nick Katz – CEO of Land Logical Ltd, added, “Five years ago, a deal was made with the Land Logical Group and two local farmers to secure the rights to win their mineral on Pasture House Farm. From the outset this deal was made with a great deal of trust from all parties with a promise from Land Logical to deliver an award-winning quarry.
He continued, “All at Land Logical are committed to working in harmony with our neighbours and the environment. To this effect I am pleased to announce that our new wash plant is completely powered by clean energy. I believe this is the only plant of this nature currently operating in the UK.
The event was fully supported by directors and staff from DUO Equipment (part of DUO Holdings Ltd) who have worked alongside Land Logical to advise, supply and commission a Terex® Wash Plant based on a Twin Compact Fines Master FM 120C and a PowerscrubPS 120R.
Nick acknowledged, “DUO have been a great support from the beginning with their experience and considerable knowledge of the industry. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty as plant supplier and it is therefore fitting that they are here with us today.
Nick concluded, “It has been a long ride with lots of twists and turns along the way. Today marks the start of the second stage of the journey, however before we start this new phase it is important to mention a few key people who have been with us from our very first steps.
“We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the officers and staff from Peterborough Council for their professionalism, manner and conduct that they have engaged with us and consultants both pre and post planning. All staff and consultants from PDE for their considerable support through the planning process.
“ I would also like to single out Dave Marsh and also our highways construction team from S Walsh & Sons and our design and technical support team from Hydrock. Top work from both teams with particular thanks to Hugh Gallagher from S Walsh and Alistair Clay from Hydrock.
“Last and not least the directors and shareholder of Land Logical would like to thank Stephen Poole our Quarry Manager for putting together a fine team of local staff.”
The new quarry has 3.7 million tonnes that are suitable for a wide range of concrete and construction uses with all the processed material graded and tested to BS EN 12620 for concrete production which will be supplied to local companies, concrete plants and general builders.
On exhaustion of the mineral reserves the farm will then be restored back to agricultural use.
